News had gotten out yesterday of a probable Great Reed Warbler at Abrahamskraal in the park and, since this would be a new bird for our park list (effectively what we consider to be our "home patch") as well as a brilliant one to get for the challenge, we decided to head off there this morning to look for it. Unfortunately, luck was not on our side and, despite several hours of looking, we were unable to locate the bird in question. We then took a quick drive through the rest of the park in the hope that we might bump into that Montagu's Harrier that had been seen there a few weeks ago, but again, we were unlucky. At around 11h30, we decided to call it a day and headed back home a little disappointed with not having found our target, but still very happy to just get another opportunity to visit the park. |
