Sion Stanton and I decided to visit the West Coast National Park again to see how many of the migrants had arrived. Soon after arriving, I heard Common Quail calling and, realising that it would be a new bird for my Western Cape photographic list, we chased off into the long wet grass after it. We managed to flush several of these birds, but only one gave a decent fly past allowing for some moderate shots. Most of the waders have already arrived back in small numbers and we saw representatives of every species one would expect there including the somewhat uncommon (on the west coast) Terek Sandpiper. Of other interest to me was my first photographic Marsh Sandpiper for the year. We also visited the Postberg section of the park which was open for the last weekend this year. This section of the park only opens up each year in August and September, so it was good to get back into it. We managed to find a nice Boomslang which was also a photographic lifer for me and caught up with Bontebok for the photographic mammal yearlist.
