Margaret and I spent a couple of hours at Milnerton Sewage Works this morning. There was nothing terribly exciting around and the only thing of any note was the presence of 2 White-throated Swallows, obviously early returning migrants. A number of species have recently bred and many species were accompanying young chicks or juveniles around including Egyptian Goose, Red-knobbed Coot, Hartlaub's Gull and Great White Pelican. After spending a bit of time here, we eventually left and headed off to SANCCOB rehabilitation centre to have a look at the Northern Rockhopper Penguin that had been brought in there after it had come ashore on Noordhoek beach a few weeks ago. Apart from a bit of moult, the bird appears to be in good health.
