Margaret and I joined friends, John and Greta Graham, for a morning visit to the Harold Porter Botanical Gardens in Betty's Bay. In the back of my mind, there was always the possibility of trying to catch up with a possible photographic lifer in the form of Blue-mantled Crested Flycatcher which does occur sporadically in the area, but, once again, this was not to be. This bird only seems to present itself when I do not have the camera with me...

The main aim of the morning, however, was to try and get some slightly better shots of Victorin's Warbler. This shy and skulking warbler can often prove very difficult to see, let alone photograph and tends to move through the fynbos understorey remaining hidden mostly within touching distance of one. Fortunately, we located a slightly more friendly individual this morning and managed to get some vaguely reasonable shots of it. They could still do with improvement, but are much better than what I had previously had.
